Advantages of Asphalt

Asphalt is made of up oil, and well engineered aggregate. It is used for creating hardened surfaces that can be driven on, parked on, have equipment stored on, and it will keep the surface smooth and flat. The road you drive typically is asphalt. Many freeways have concrete surfaces, but their foundation is asphalt. Most residential roads, and city streets are made of asphalt. Asphalt is delivered to the job site between 300-325 degrees; it is important that it be installed while hot for optimum compaction. In most cases asphalt is installed using a self propelled asphalt paver. It is then compacted with an asphalt roller. One of the benefits of asphalt is you can use it as soon as it cools down.
Asphalt can be installed either by hand, or with an asphalt paver. Our suppliers offer a variety of gradations that meet the needs of customers, as well as city and state specifications. Different specifications of asphalt are required by cities, or the state; these specifications typically have to do with the aggregate mix, and what percent of it is recycled asphalt, vs new aggregate. These specifications can be found on state and city websites. Preferred Paving can help you find out which application is right for you in the area you are installing asphalt.
